- Mr. Mavrick represents clients in breach of contract and business tort litigation, including cases brought under the Uniform Commercial Code.
- Employment & Labor Litigation; Employment Counseling.
- Litigated a broad range of employment disputes before federal and state courts and in alternative dispute resolution venues, representing both employers and employees, including ERISA, race, age, sex, sexual harassment, whistleblower retaliation, breach of restrictive covenant, breach of employee duty of loyalty, employee theft of trade secrets and other proprietary business information, wage and hour, employment contract and related tort claims, labor law disciplinary and termination hearings pursuant to collective bargaining agreement, administrative law employment termination hearings, and unemployment compensation proceedings.
- Prepare and implement employee handbooks and personnel policies, and advised employers regarding employee terminations, sexual harassment investigations, leave requirements, wage and hour law compliance, and the use of restrictive covenants to protect trade secrets and other proprietary business information.

- Won 2003 trial on behalf of employee for wages owed.
- Won 2005 trial on behalf of employer for wages owed.
- Won 2005 trial on behalf of employer for employer's taxes allegedly owed.
- Represented company and its owners sued by former employer corporation for breach of non-competition contract and hiring an employee of the former employer. At end of the emergency hearing the former employer set with the Judge to obtain a temporary injunction against my clients, the Judge indicated that he would rule in favor of my clients and invalidate the non-competition contract. The case later settled where the former employer corporation paid my clients' fees and costs and an additional amount as damages.
- Represented company and its owner who were sued by former employer corporation for breach of non-competition contract and theft of trade secrets. My client counterclaimed. While motions were pending with the Judge, the former employer corporation settled by dismissing its case, agreeing in writing that its non-competition contact was invalid and that no trade secrets were ever stolen by my clients, and reimbursing the attorney's fees and costs of my clients.
- Represented corporation and its officers in defense of case seeking overtime wages, back wages, sales commissions, and damages for allegedly wrongful termination under the federal employee polygraph protection act. Won summary judgment as to the overtime wage claim. Plaintiff/alleged employee dismissed of his unlawful termination claim on the eve of trial.
- Represented employee in overtime wage case. After my client prevailed at summary judgment and in striking the expert witness of the employer, the case settled with a consent judgment in favor of my client.
- Represented employee in overtime wage case. After my client prevailed on motion with the Judge invalidating the former employer's defense, the case settled with a favorable settlement to my client.
Activities:
- Mr. Mavrick speaks at seminars and conferences on employment law issues, and has held several leadership positions in the Broward County Bar Association and The Florida Bar. These have included Florida Bar Grievance Committee Chair (2005 - 2006) and member (2003 - 2005) and Broward County Bar Association Chairman (2001 - 2002) and Co-Chairman (2000 - 2001) of the Employment Law Section and Chairman (1999 - 2000) and Vice-Chairman (1997 - 1999) of the Intellectual Property Law Section. He is a member of the Board of Directors (2003 - present) of the Federal Bar Association Broward County Chapter and the Board of Directors (2003 - present) of the North Coral Ridge Homeowners Association.
